The sun is starting to come out, the weather is heating up and we don’t know about you, but we cannot wait for a summer of fun this year. So if you’re heading to one of the up-and-coming events already penned in for Rugby and Northamptonshire, why not start or finish your day with a trip to The George at Kilsby?
With that in mind, here’s our guide to what local events are on this summer in Rugby and Northamptonshire.
Daventry Motorcycle Festival: Saturday 10th June
Can’t make this year’s Rugby’s Bikefest? Don’t worry, Daventry is holding a free Motorcycle Festival in just a few weeks’ time. Family fun, complete with live music and entertainment for all ages – including a stunt show. Be sure to arrive by 10am if you want to catch the mass ride-in.
Rugby Pride: Sunday 25th June
Come together for Rugby’s annual Pride event, starting with a march through Rugby town centre and ending at Caldecott Park, with entertainment taking place along the route.
Festival on the Close: Sunday 25th June – Thursday 29th June
Festival on the Close is returning for another year, and this time it’s bigger than ever.
Rugby’s Macready Theatre presents a fantastic lineup of music, comedy and theatre, with the likes of BBC Concert Orchestra, radio legend Ken Bruce and comedian Seann Walsh all set to take to the stage.
During the day, Rugby School will be opening its gates and inviting the community in, to enjoy a variety of creative performances and workshops.
Crick Scarecrow and Music Festival: 8th – 9th July
Located in our neighbouring village, Crick, their Scarecrow and Music Festival remains an absolute must for families looking for a great day out this summer. The event is free, with stalls, entertainers, a funfair and of course, the fabulous scarecrow trail dotted around the village.
Back by popular demand, the Classic Car Event will be returning to the Scarecrow and Music Festival, giving visitors the chance to view a spectacular selection of vintage and modern classic cars over the weekend. Both days are 10am until 6pm.
Hamplified: Saturday 15th July
Taking place at Rugby St Andrews RFC, on Ashlawn Road, Hamplified is bringing 11 of Rugby’s finest local bands to entertain and raise money for Matt Hampson Foundation. The event kicks off at 1pm, with music continuing throughout the day and into the night.
Northampton Balloon Festival: 18th – 20th August
Taking place at The Racecourse, Kettering Road, Northampton, is this year’s Balloon Festival. A chance for all the family to enjoy live entertainment, a fun fair, fireworks and of course, a spectacular glowing hot-air balloon display at night. Tickets start at just £2.75 per person, with free entry for those under one metre.
