Top picks: Our favourite breakfast dishes to set you up for the day

Does anything beat tucking into a mouthwatering breakie at your favourite local restaurant at the weekend? We thought not. Whether you call it breakfast or brunch, prefer savoury or sweet, The George at Kilsby has got you covered. Not sure what to pick? Here are our favourite breakfast dishes to set you up for your day.

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

BreakfastIf the answer is poached, then you need to try either Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale or Avacado Florentine. All equally as delicious but what’s the difference between these dishes?

Eggs Benedict: teamed with streaky bacon, topped with hollandaise sauce and served on an English muffin.

Eggs Royale: as above but swap streaky bacon for smoked salmon.

Avocado Florentine: smashed avo’ and hollandaise sauce.

For us, any of the above tick all the boxes. And with eggs being one of our favourite superfoods, all three dishes come with all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs for the day ahead.

Shakshuka

OK, eggs again – but this time, with a Middle-Eastern twist. This one-pan dish deserved a mention of its own, given that it’s well up there as one of our favourite breakfast delights. Bringing together the smokiness of sweet grilled pepper, poached eggs, avocado and labneh (yoghurt), swimming in a bath of spicy simmering tomatoes and served with sourdough toast.

Shakshuka promises to be an absolute delight for the senses – perfect if you’re looking for a flavoursome meal to wake you up in the morning.

PancakesPancakes

If you’re unsure as to what to order, a stack of pancakes always wins, right? Fluffy on the inside and topped with crispy bacon, berries and maple syrup. One of our most popular dishes and it’s easy to see why. Once the crunch of bacon, combined with sweet syrup hits your palette, you’ll be rushing back for your next mouthful.

A healthy smoothie bowl

If you’re on the lookout for a healthier option, then try our vegan-friendly smoothie bowl. You know when you’re scrolling through your socials and you come across a wholesome bowl of breakfast goodness that someone has posted? Well, here’s your chance to have your very own. Berries, banana, chia seeds, toasted nuts, dried fruits and granola – it’s all of those good-for-you ingredients, in one place. And better still, it will fill you up a treat before you crack on with your morning.

Smoothie bowlGo traditional

Of course, if none of the above quite takes your fancy, then opt for something more traditional. We have our adult-size full English for you to tuck into (complete with our homemade bean stew), as well as your breakfast bun. And remember, this isn’t just any old breakfast bun, we pack ours with sausage, bacon, a fried egg and a slice of cheese.

Something for the kids

Whether you’re brunching with friends, family or solo, The George at Kilsby has something for everyone – including kids. If you’re bringing little ones along for a weekend treat, then we have a bitesize version of our full English and the pancake stack for them to enjoy (although we’ve swapped out the maple syrup for chocolate sauce here).
